Yeah, back to traditions of headline-giving again. The OP reminded me of Ghost in the Shell: although I’ve watched just one episode of GITS and its song was in Russian, it was very similar (at least in my eyes). The animation was good, though I don’t think it’s something special in a first episode of a show. They always put effort in fluid animation till they’re “tired” of the series.
Me is liking the idea, and even if there are going to be a bit of mecha battles it isn’t disturbing at all. I usually prefer clean 2D animation, but the CGI work in RideBack was done very, very good. And the 2D threedimensional animation is a hard thing, I know, and it was done also very nice. So, optic is fantastic.
Surprisingly I suddenly heared acoustic music! Agree with me, you didn’t expected so nice music of a sci-fi series. In my opinion the soundtrack is also very good.
Character design changed a bit during the episode, so I simply say I liked the final version. The characters were sympathic and pretty, except those guy with the spud-like nose. Not to forget is the easy rememberable name of the main character: Rin.
My overall experience with this anime (the sentence we all waited for!): the atmosphere was so nice designed that I felt in the world shown for a moment. I hope to stay by my opinion after the next episodes too and call this series Ghibli-like. 5/5 points!
